Easy Pumpkin Pie Spice

The flavor profile

Cinnamon leads this combination, with ginger and nutmeg adding depth and allspice and cloves rounding out the aroma. The ingredient list is spices only: it does not contain pumpkin, sugar, cayenne or pepper flakes. It is a seasoning component, not a complete pie or latte recipe.

What to use it on

Choose this mix for the listed pies, lattes and oatmeal. Think about the batch of dry spice separately from the size of your finished dish. You may want a small quantity for occasional oatmeal or a larger batch for repeated baking; the app offers volume choices for either approach.

Does pumpkin pie spice contain pumpkin?

Not this blend. Its five ingredients are cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, allspice and ground cloves. The name describes a familiar use for the seasoning, rather than an ingredient in the dry mix.

Make it with Spice Blends Made Easy

Choose a dry batch of 1 tbsp, ¼ cup, ½ cup or 1 cup and get the ingredient amounts in spoon-and-cup measurements. Mild, Medium, Hot and Fiery settings adjust chili powder, cayenne or red pepper flakes where the recipe includes them. Blends without those ingredients do not gain extra chili heat.
